The Fire Marshals Office promotes and enforces fire and life safety codes through an inspection and issuance of operating permits process. They enforce the New York State Fire Prevention Code and local building codes. The Fire Marshal reviews all building plans and projects to ensure compliance with building and fire code requirements as they complete inspections where permits have been issued associated with but not limited to new building construction, building additions or alterations.
The Fire Marshals Office requires all businesses to obtain an operating permit to comply with local and state codes. Some of these operating permits are for but not limited to Public Assembly, Flammable Storage, LP-Gas, Hazardous Storage and Repair Garages.
