The Town of Chili has an open position for an Assistant Assessor.
The position is full-time (35 hrs/week).
Applicant must have secretarial and/or office experience;
Applicant would assist the Assessor with a variety of duties involving valuation and assessment determinations or real property in the Town
This employee performs appraisals on designated parcels of land and conducts field inspections on buildings under construction to determine assessment values as mandated by NYS Real Property Tax Law.
Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, strong math/financial skills and have excellent customer service skills. Good knowledge of NYS Real Property Tax Law and its application in assessment practice including exemption eligibility requirements and application of exemptions to assessments.
Those applying should have the following minimum qualifications required:
Graduation from high school/possession of a high school diploma, plus, EITHER:
(A) Four years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in assessment or proeprty tax record keeping, property value determination or real estate license brokerage; OR
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate’s degree, plus two years of experience as described in (A) above; OR
(C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
Also, must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and a resident of Monroe County.
