Beginning Wednesday, September 21 the NYSDOT will be closing the ramp connecting Route 259 to I-490 eastbound traffic to accommodate a bridge repair project over the train tracks just east of this ramp. Additionally, they will be installing a crossover that will reduce both eastbound and westbound traffic to a single lane between Exit 4 and just east of the Paul Road bridge. This work is anticipated to last until December.
There will be roughly a two week overlap between this work and NYSDOT work to the west along State Route 36, meaning there will be two consecutive I-490 eastbound on-ramps closed during this time. The official detour for motorists to follow is along Route 33 to connect with I-490 eastbound traffic in the Town of Gates.
