The Building and Code Enforcement Department is staffed by professionals who help promote and enforce fire and life safety codes by the issuance of permits and the enforcement of State and local building codes, Town Policy, New York State Fire Prevention Code and Energy Code. The Department is also charged with enforcement of various other municipal codes and ordinances, the Town Zoning Ordinance and ensuring compliance with conditions of approvals from the Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board.
The Building Department reviews all plans for building permits to ensure compliance with zoning laws and building code requirements and they complete inspections where permits have been issued, issuing certificates of compliance associated with but not limited to new building construction, building additions or alterations, decks, pools, and signs.
The Code Enforcement and Building Department staff are also a valuable information resource for advising residents during renovation projects. We can answer your building, planning and zoning related questions, and provide you with technical information as well. We also provide informational handouts pertaining to many renovation projects.
