Job Title: Secretary to the Commissioner of Public Works/Highway Superintendent, Exempt

Distinguishing features of the position: This is a full-time position with the Highway, Public Works and Parks Department that provides confidential, administrative, and clerical support to the Commissioner of Public Works/Highway Superintendent, five (5) Foreman, and who also provides general administrative assistance to approximately forty-five (45) Department employees.

Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal characteristics:  Thorough knowledge of general office practices, business level math and English; good knowledge of the organization and administration of a public office; good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality on all matters; excellent typing skills; proficient in MS Word and Excel and ability to learn other departmental software.

Candidates are required to pass a physical examination, drug test and background check.

The starting salary range wage for this position is between $48,000 and $52,000.

Job Posting: Recreation Attendant (Weekends)

Recreation Attendant-Community Center
(Part Time-Weekends)
Starting pay $14.00/hour

This is a part time position that will work 12-20 hours per week and must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including morning and evening hours.

This position is with our Recreation Department and reports directly to the Director of Parks and Recreation. Position will serve as an attendant at the Community Center and be responsible for program and facility supervision, setting up/breaking down room use for programs and meetings, as well as maintaining equipment and supplies inventory. Additional responsibilities include front desk coverage, answering phones, and direct customer service.

Applicant must enjoy working with the public, have experience working with people of all ages, and have excellent customer service skills. Applicant must also be able to perform light manual labor including, but not limited to moving tables and chairs.

The is a part time position that will work 12-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule including early morning, evening and some weekend hours.

This position is with our Recreation Department and reports directly to the Director of Parks and Recreation. Position will serve as an attendant at the Community Center, more specifically the Senior Center, and is responsible for program and facility supervision, setting up/breaking down room use for programs and events, as well as maintaining equipment and supplies inventory. Additional responsibilities include working directly with program participants and providing excellent customer service.

Applicant must enjoy working with the public, have experience working with people ages 55 and older in a recreation or group setting, and have excellent customer service skills. Applicant must also be able to perform light manual labor including, but not limited to moving tables and chairs.

    Job Title/Group:  Ground Equipment Operator (Pay Group 2)

    Full-time position(s) with the Parks Department involves general equipment operation and maintenance, general Laborer’s work, heavy and light duty tasks, mainly working outside, requiring physical endurance.

    Applicants must have a strong background in ground equipment and power tools operation, and be able to perform preventative maintenance and repair of all department vehicles and equipment.

    Applicants must possess a clean New York State Driver’s License, minimum Class D.  Candidates are required to pass a physical examination and drug test.

    The starting wage for this position is $17.09 per hour.
