Notice is hereby given that the Supervisor has filed the Annual Financial Report Update Document with the State of New York Office of the State Comptroller and that the “Audited, Basic Financial Statements, Town of Chili, New York, December 31, 2018” are on file in the Town Clerk’s Office and are available for public inspection and copying. Copies of the Financial Statements are also available through the Town’s website at www.townofchili.org.

Job Posting: Building and Plumbing Inspector

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews, check and approve plans and specifications submitted with building & plumbing permit applications for compliance with the building code, the plumbing code, zoning ordinance and applicable laws & ordinances of local & state law;
  • Inspects plumbing installations to see that work is being carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications & applicable State & Local codes;
  • Issues building & plumbing permits and furnishes the prescribed certificates of occupancy upon application; obtains permits from other governmental units;
  • Explains the requirements of the local building & plumbing codes, local zoning ordinance and NYS Multiple Residence Law to building & plumbing contractors and general public;
  • Provides for removal of illegal or unsafe conditions and secures the necessary safeguards during construction;
  • Orders unsafe condition in existing structures to be removed and arranges for condemnation notices to owners & builders of improper or hazardous structures;
  • Inspects existing buildings & structures to insure their conformity with safety standards;
  • Investigates complaints & assists in prosecuting violations of the building & plumbing code, and zoning ordinance;
  • Maintains records of acts & decisions;
  • Prepares periodic reports of buildings & structures erected or altered, of permits issued, fees collected and estimated cost of work covered for such permits to the local governing body;
  • Investigates & processes applications for zoning variances.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

Applicant should have thorough knowledge of modern practices, principles, materials & tools used in building construction and plumbing installation; knowledge of the NYS Multiple Residence Law; good knowledge of the building trades; working knowledge of the principles of engineering & architecture; ability to conduct field inspections; ability to communicate well orally & in writing; ability to establish & maintain cooperative relationships with other public officials, building & plumbing contractors, and the general public; ability to read & interpret plans and specifications; ability to maintain records; prepare periodic written & statistical reports; supervisory ability; honest; thoroughness; tact; good judgement; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from High School/GED, plus EITHER:

  • Five years of full time or its part-time equivalent paid experience in building construction or building inspection involving plumbing facilities or plumbing installation and repair; OR,
  • (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Civil, Construction, Architectural Technology, or Building Technology or a field of study closely related to these disciplines, plus three years full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience in building construction or building inspection involving plumbing facilities or plumbing installation and repair; OR
  • (C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

NOTE: Where the minimum educational requirement is not fully met, additional appropriate work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for general work experience.

Salary Range:  $44,374 – $54,092

2019 Town and County Taxes

Notice is Hereby Given that the tax warrant for the collection of the 2019 Town and County Taxes on property located in the Town of Chili has been received by Virginia Ignatowski, Receiver of Taxes.

Virginia Ignatowski will receive taxes for the Town of Chili at the Chili Town Tax Office, 3333 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624, beginning December 28, 2018 through May 31, 2019 Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Taxes received on or before February 10, 2019 will not incur interest. All taxes remaining unpaid after February 10, 2019 shall be deemed unpaid and shall be subject to the following penalties:

During the period of February 11 to the last day of February, one and a half percent (1.5%) and additional one and one half percent (1.5%) for each month thereafter until return of unpaid taxes is made by the Receiver to the County Treasurer pursuant to the law.

Take Further Notice that pursuant to the provisions of the law, the tax rolls of the Town of Chili will be returned to the Monroe County Treasury on the first day of June 2019.

If your Taxes are not paid through your mortgage company and you do not receive a tax bill by January 9th, please contact the Town of Chili Tax Office at 889-6129.

Before and After School Counselors – Part Time

The Town of Chili Recreation Department is looking for qualified applicants to work part-time at our Before and After School Program (SAFE). Hired individuals will perform the following job responsibilities:

• Direct supervision of children
• Play and engage in activities with children
• Plan and lead Activities
• Follow directions of:
1) Program Coordinator
2) Program Directors
• Take initiative
• Be creative
• Interact with participant caretakers upon child pick-up
• Create a positive environment for participants, parents and other staff
• Must be at least a High School Junior to apply

Days: Monday – Friday
Dates: During the School Year
Hours: 7:00-9:00 am (Before Care)
2:30-6:00 pm (After Care)
