The Town of Chili has an open position for a
Senior Citizen Program Specialist
The position is Full-time. Salary range: $45,000 – $55,000
This position is with our Recreation Department, more specifically the Senior Center. This position reports directly to the Director of Parks and Recreation and is responsible for the day to day management of the Senior Center. Primary responsibilities include the planning and developing of senior activities and programs, supervising and training part time staff and volunteers, as well as overseeing the kitchen and lunch program. This position also provides outstanding customer service and support to the senior center members. Additional administrative duties include membership records, monthly newsletters and reports.
Applicant must have strong communications skills and excellent customer service. Preferred applicant should have extensive experience working with the senior population (age 55 plus) and have a Certified Food Safety Manager/Food Handler certification and a valid NYS Driver’s License.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the planning and conducting of recreation or human service program activities, one (1) year of which shall have involved the elderly; OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Recreation, Education, or a human service or behavioral science field, plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the planning and conducting of recreation or human service program activities for the elderly; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
The successful candidate hired will be provisional and must pass a Monroe County Civil Service exam.
